DAY 1 Tuesday 15 Sept 2015

Ran across some nice, but brief, scenery in west Oklahoma.  Who knew?

Stopped at this little park to take a break.  This is still in west Okla.  Pit toilets here.  Better than nothing.  Thank goodness for that hand cleaner stuff.

Pookie got to do her little potty thing too.  She kept wanting to wander all around.  I had to tell her:  "No, no, no, little doggy.  You can't go over there!"

Our first night of the trip.  We're in Clayton, New Mexico.  A long drive today, and a very windy one.  Thought I was driving in a hurricane.  I took Hwy. 412 from Tulsa all the way to NM.  Some of the road is good, some is not so good.  Most of the time I had the road to myself.  Not much traffic out here.  I guess they all heard that I was coming west so they left.  Hmm....  

We stayed at the Clayton KOA.  $23.  A bit much just to camp but KOA's are always high.  Not a bad place to stay.  Not fancy.  Clean facilities.

Here's Pookie on the tail gate checking out the camp area.  There was a young woman from Germany camped next to us.  She seemed to be pretty nice.  She was vacationing around the USA.
